Inspiration ♡
My name is @_megsmith22. I have been riding for over 7 years and love it. I have two beautiful horses, a stock/quarter horse named Minty and a paint/quarter horse named Ruby-Rose. They’re 2 beautifully natured horses, so much so that they are always by each other’s side. It’s obvious that Minty takes care of Ruby, and protects her everywhere they go. It’s adorable.
Even though we spend a lot of time together, I just can’t get enough of them and absolutely love every minute I’m with them.
Minty was recently part of the filming for the next Stephen Spielberg movie. He was taught tricks by the directors, so it’s been a lot of fun to put them in place. Ruby is only 6, and we’ve come a long way together. I’ve spent a lot of time training her. She is still learning lots, and I am too which really excites me.
But it hasn’t always been easy, I went through a very difficult time after major surgery - in fact 2 of the 5 most painful surgeries you can have. Spinal surgery with vertebrae fusion, and a rib cage re-alignment as a result of significant scoliosis (lateral curvature of the spine). When my surgeon said the recovery was going to be difficult, he wasn’t kidding. It was so difficult and the pain so severe I feared I may never ride again.
Once I was able, I spent every moment I could with my horses. Even though I wasn’t allowed to ride, I was still always exercising, grooming and building the bond with these beautiful creatures. Just time with them is therapeutic.
After many months I’ve come along way. With the help of family and my brilliant surgeon I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have a fantastic outcome. My back is strong, my spine is straight, and I’m now 3cm taller as a result of my surgery! I am happily riding once again.
So I’ve learned that no matter how bad things feel, how much you’re suffering, that you just have to have faith that things will get better. If you stay positive, persevere, and work hard you can achieve anything that you want to. Girls can get knocked down, but they can get back up and be better and stronger than they were before if they believe in themselves.
Don’t listen to the haters, they’re afraid of us for a reason. Girl power ROCKS !!!
